Apartment renovation, from strip-out to furniture

A full renovation of a family apartment: bathrooms taken back to the slab, new water pipework, drywall ceilings with light coves in every room, then finishes, bathrooms, lighting and furniture. Everything on this page was photographed by our own site team.

Strip-out, waterproofing and services

The bathrooms were stripped to the structure. Two coats of waterproofing went on the floors and up the walls, with a flood test before any tile. The concealed cistern frames were set, the water supply was re-run in new pipe and the water heater was replaced. Floor tiles were laid on a levelling system.

Ceilings, partitions and finishing

Moisture-resistant boards on the partitions, suspended ceilings with recessed light coves and linear diffusers, access hatches where the services need them. Then taping, skimming, sanding and the first coats of paint. The cove lighting was switched on before the final coat so the colour could be checked under real light.

Result

The finished apartment

Marble floors, a dining room with a crystal chandelier, a TV lounge with fluted wall panels, a bedroom with an upholstered headboard, a walk-in shower room and a bathroom with a freestanding bath and black marble. Lighting, curtains and furniture were installed before handover.
