Detailing studio built inside a car park

Two bays of an underground car park turned into a car detailing studio. Partitions on metal studs, walls spray-painted dark, a hexagonal LED ceiling, a modular interlocking floor with an orange working lane. Services stayed exposed where the building required it.

Two parking bays

Bare concrete, exposed services overhead and the painted bay lines on the floor. The brief was a working studio that could be taken apart without touching the building structure.

Partitions, paint and floor

Metal stud partitions closed the bay from the rest of the car park. The walls were sprayed in a dark finish, the floor was levelled and the modular tiles were laid with the orange lane set out first.

Result

The studio

The hexagonal LED ceiling gives even, shadow-free light for paint work. Dark walls, grey and orange floor, clear sight lines around a car.
